The short version

Alaska's program is now Atmos Rewards, and its terms state points have no expiration date and may remain in an account indefinitely — the 24-month inactivity rule was dropped in April 2023. People still search for the balance as Alaska miles, and both names describe the same points.

Atmos Rewards replaced Alaska Mileage Plan in 2025, and most people still search for the balance as Alaska miles. These guides use the program's current terms. Points no longer expire, and Bilt is the US card currency that transfers in, at 1:1.

Because the balance cannot lapse, the questions worth answering are what a point is worth and where it goes furthest. The value calculator compares a booking's cash price with the points it takes, using a typical figure drawn from published valuations, so you can see whether a specific redemption beats simply paying cash.
