A guide, not a quote. Real value depends on how you redeem — the property or route, the dates, and taxes or fees paid separately. Figures in other currencies are converted at reference rates for 9 September 2026.
How much is an IHG point worth?
An IHG One Rewards point is worth about 0.55 cents on a typical reward night — between the published valuations, which run from 0.5 to 0.6 cents. So 50,000 points come to $275 (about £203 or €236), and 150,000 points to $825 (about £608 or €708). IHG is a low-denomination program: each point is worth little, but you earn many. Budget brands and cheap dates land nearer 0.45 cents; higher-end hotels, and the fourth reward night free for IHG credit-card holders, reach about 0.65 cents.
Where these numbers come from: Frequent Miler 0.59¢ Reasonable Redemption Value, 0.65¢ at the 75th percentile (8 May 2026); The Points Guy 0.6¢ (1 September 2026); Upgraded Points 0.5¢ (1 September 2026). We publish a figure inside that spread rather than at the friendliest end — a balance that turns out to be worth less than we said is worse than one worth more.
Judge the stay,
not the point.
An IHG point is worth around half a cent, but balances run into six figures, so what matters is the room it buys. Point it at the fourth-night-free benefit and better hotels, not the cheapest room on the street.

IHG points value — common questions
Around $550 (about £405 or €472) at a typical 0.55 cents per point. Budget brands and cheap dates bring it nearer $450, and higher-end hotels around $650.
Anything above about 0.55 cents is a solid IHG redemption, and 0.65 cents or more is strong. The best lever is the fourth reward night free for IHG credit-card holders, and avoiding cheap rooms where the cash rate is already low.
Rarely. Chase points transfer to IHG at 1:1, and an IHG point is worth around half a cent — less than most of Chase's airline partners or World of Hyatt. It makes sense only to top up a balance for a specific booking.
Yes — after 12 months with no account activity for Club members, the shortest window among the big hotel programs. IHG Elite members and IHG Premier cardholders are exempt. Our guide on whether IHG points expire has the detail.

How many Avios for a flight?
It depends on distance and cabin, not a fixed price. British Airways Club prices rewards in distance bands, so since the December 2025 repricing a short-haul economy reward starts at 10,000 Avios one-way, and business on the same routes runs roughly 16,500 to 26,750. Cash taxes and carrier charges are always extra.
What are Avios worth?
One Avios is typically worth about 1p, the working figure both the UK and US reference valuations settle near, so 10,000 Avios come to roughly £100. Weak via-hub economy redemptions land nearer 0.9p, while long-haul business can reach about 1.7p. The calculator converts any balance into pounds, dollars and euros.
What can my points do?
Add your Amex Membership Rewards to your Avios, since they transfer to British Airways at 1:1, and compare the total with off-peak reward prices. A New York–London economy return is 55,000 Avios and business 176,000. The tool sorts trips into within reach now, one transfer away and not yet in reach.
