How much is a Southwest point worth?
A Southwest Rapid Rewards point is worth about 1.25 cents — the lower of the published valuations, which run from 1.25 to 1.3 cents. So 25,000 points come to $313 (about £230 or €268), and 60,000 points to $750 (about £553 or €644). Southwest prices every award against the cash fare, so the value moves less than at any other airline: cheap fares land nearer 1.1 cents a point and higher fares on busy routes about 1.4 cents. There is no premium-cabin sweet spot to chase — the number of points tracks the price of the seat.
Where these numbers come from: The Points Guy 1.25¢ (1 September 2026); Upgraded Points 1.3¢ (1 September 2026); Frequent Miler 1.3¢ Reasonable Redemption Value, observed range 1.07¢ to 1.86¢ (10 April 2025). We publish a figure inside that spread rather than at the friendliest end — a balance that turns out to be worth less than we said is worse than one worth more.
A steady point,
flight after flight.
Southwest ties the points price to the cash fare, so a point is worth close to the same on almost every flight. That makes it the easiest airline currency to value — and the one where hunting for a sweet spot pays least.

Southwest points value — common questions
Around $625 (about £461 or €536) at a typical 1.25 cents per point — nearer $550 on cheap fares and about $700 on higher ones.
Because Southwest prices awards against the cash fare rather than on a chart: the points price rises and falls with the fare, so a point is worth close to the same amount on almost every flight — unlike airlines where one award can be worth three times another.
It can be. Chase points transfer to Southwest at 1:1, and a Southwest point is worth about 1.25 cents — similar to United miles, and more than using Chase points for cash back. The value is predictable rather than high.
No — Southwest removed points expiration in 2022. The one way to lose them is closing your Rapid Rewards account. Our guide on whether Southwest points expire has the detail.

How many Avios for a flight?
It depends on distance and cabin, not a fixed price. British Airways Club prices rewards in distance bands, so since the December 2025 repricing a short-haul economy reward starts at 10,000 Avios one-way, and business on the same routes runs roughly 16,500 to 26,750. Cash taxes and carrier charges are always extra.
What are Avios worth?
One Avios is typically worth about 1p, the working figure both the UK and US reference valuations settle near, so 10,000 Avios come to roughly £100. Weak via-hub economy redemptions land nearer 0.9p, while long-haul business can reach about 1.7p. The calculator converts any balance into pounds, dollars and euros.
What can my points do?
Add your Amex Membership Rewards to your Avios, since they transfer to British Airways at 1:1, and compare the total with off-peak reward prices. A New York–London economy return is 55,000 Avios and business 176,000. The tool sorts trips into within reach now, one transfer away and not yet in reach.
