Do IHG points expire?

Yes. IHG One Rewards points expire after 12 months with no account activity — the shortest window among the major hotel programs. Any earning or redemption resets it. IHG Elite members and IHG One Rewards Premier cardholders, who hold Platinum Elite, are exempt and keep their points regardless.

Do Delta miles expire?

No. Delta SkyMiles do not expire and there is no inactivity clock — Delta's own program rules state miles never expire. The catch is value rather than time: SkyMiles are priced dynamically against cash fares, so a balance held for years quietly buys less as fares and award prices rise.

Guide

Do Alaska miles expire?

No. Alaska dropped its 24-month inactivity rule in April 2023, and under the renamed Atmos Rewards program the terms state points have no expiration date and may remain in an account indefinitely. An idle Alaska balance is safe, so the only real risk to it is program devaluation.

What can my Virgin Points do?

Virgin Points book partner flights on fixed charts: Delta One between New York and London is 47,500 points one-way off-peak, Delta flights within the US start at 7,500, and ANA business from Los Angeles to Tokyo is 52,500. Amex, Chase, Bilt and Citi points transfer in at 1:1, and the tool sorts trips by what your balance reaches.

Fourteen airlines are 1:1, including Air Canada Aeroplan, Flying Blue, Avianca, British Airways, Singapore and Turkish; Emirates, EVA Air and Japan Airlines are 4:3, and JetBlue 5:3. Hotels are weaker: Choice and Wyndham 1:1, Accor 2:1, I Prefer 1:2.

Guide

Bilt transfer partners

Bilt Rewards has the widest transfer list of any US card currency: nineteen airlines and seven hotels, almost all at 1:1. It is the only program reaching American, Alaska, Southwest and United alongside all four major hotels, Hilton, IHG, Marriott and Hyatt. Only Accor (3:2) and Preferred Hotels (1:2) differ.

How to earn Delta miles

Delta SkyMiles members earn 5 miles per $1 on Delta fares, rising to 7, 8, 9 and 11 with Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond Medallion status; Basic Economy earns none. Partner-airline flights earn by distance and cabin, American Express points transfer in at 1:1 and Marriott points at 3:1, and dining, Uber and shopping add more.
