Almost no loyalty balance expires on a date. It expires after a run of months with no activity — 12 for IHG, 24 for Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and AAdvantage, 36 for Avios — and any single earn or spend resets the whole clock. Delta, United, Southwest, Alaska, Amex and Chase points do not lapse at all.
This is the expiry library: one guide per program, each quoting that program's own terms, so you can check a balance's rules in under a minute. Most balances do not expire on a date. They lapse after a stretch with no activity, and the length of that stretch is what each guide pins down.
The same pattern repeats across almost every program. One small earn or redemption resets the whole clock. Some members are exempt, such as cardholders, elite members or members under 21. And a few currencies never lapse at all but disappear the moment you close the card or account they sit in.
