The short version

Almost no loyalty balance expires on a date. It expires after a run of months with no activity — 12 for IHG, 24 for Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt and AAdvantage, 36 for Avios — and any single earn or spend resets the whole clock. Delta, United, Southwest, Alaska, Amex and Chase points do not lapse at all.
